On a warm summer day in Akron, Ohio, Rachel and Will tied the knot in the garden at the Akron Art Museum in front of hundreds of their closest family and friends. Their theme? A modern tropical wedding, one to remember, full of acrylic details and lush green palm leaves.
Rachel and Will went to the same high school together in a town near Akron, OH, but it wasn’t until their college years that they became close friends and began dating soon after. Both were athletes at the University of Akron, had an instant connection, mutual friends, and a ton in common. Their story in short? They dated throughout college, moved to Rhode Island shortly after for their careers, got engaged in Edinburgh, Scotland (the first stop on an international vacation), and got married the following summer in Akron, Ohio – the city they call home and first met one another.
There wedding day was far from ordinary. When Rachel and Will described their wedding vision to me over a year ago, I couldn’t wait to get a start on designing and executing the wedding of their dreams.
Think modern meets minimal, a tropical Los Angeles vibe combined with the beautiful architecture of the Art Museum. What do you get? A modern tropical wedding. A gorgeous soirée, complete with amazing food trucks from local favorites (Swensons & Barrio), and a fun evening dancing the night away under the lights.
